    Observed a young college-age couple in a red SUV deposit this couch at the corner of Olive and St John about 11:45 pm on July 31. I was about to confront them but they sped off before I was able to get a license plate number.

    It's nice that there are now tables and chairs around the fountain on the Green. The downside is that it's beginning to be used as a children's wading pool. I didn't see any signs indicating that this activity was prohibited. Could the cops on bikes swing by now and then?

    Christmas is over. Snow banks are melting. Yet I there are several Christmas trees on curbs on Olive, St John, and Hughes Place.

    A television has been dumped near the sidewalk in front of the parking lot adjacent to the Tobin and Melien building. Since cars are usually parked along Olive Street, it is not visible from the street, but it's an eyesore for pedestrians.

    If this is poison ivy, and I think it is, anyone walking a dog along this stretch of Olive near Greene might be in for an itchy surprise.

    I noticed this morning that last night's heavy rains have apparenly split one of the cherry trees on Hughes place. It's blocking part of the roadway and should be removed.

    Probably as a prank, this sign has been moved from Olive and Court to this location. I'd hate to see a firefighter knocked off as a fire truck rounds the corner.

    The primary has come and gone, but not the political trash strewn
    at the entrance to Conte School.
    We voters were engulfed with political flyers before the election. Afterwards, winners and losers just walked away from the mess they made.
